Year 2 Day 31

2011 California International Triathlon
(MB)
Bicycles eastbound on Stanley and Pleasanton's finest helping with traffic control.
Read about the venue < http://www.ebparks.org/parks/shadow_cliffs >
The bicycles were flying down the hills on Bernal, lanes were coned to keep peace
between the wheeled chariots, and intersections were manned to keep the
bicycles from having to stop for cross traffic. Looked like good prior planning!

Year 2 Day 29

Oh Happy Day! (MB)
This sweet Alstroemeria was ground down into the soil
last summer when the neighbor-hired fence builders
started to building a replacement fence between our
houses. I agonized over it because it was such a pretty color.
I guess between the rain and the cooler summer brought
it back. First with a false shoot, then one with buds.
Oh Happy Day!

Year 2 Day 28

Hello Kitty for Grownups (MB)
I knew Hello Kitty was still around but
I thought it was in the kids' department,
not in auto accessories~

Year 2 Day 27

Valley Humane Society needs help! (MB)
A grassroots "no kill", "private surrender" facility
in Pleasanton just moved into a newly built
bequest financed building. They have been
housing the cats but fostering out dogs until
the building was built. The downturn in the
economy has trickled down and there are more
surrenders and lower donations.

Read about it, it's primarily a volunteer organization.

News trucks were out today, the big networks.
Maybe a Mid-Summer Santa is sleighing through?

Year 2 Day 26

US Capitol Building (MB)
"borrowed" this picture for a very important
day for my little hometown in PA. The Polish-
born pastor from my family's parish was invited to
DC to be the House Chaplain for the day and lead the
opening prayer. A busload of parishioners went
along with Fr. Miro.
It was exciting to watch:
(watch long enough to hear Father introduced by Rep.
Jason Altmire of Western Pennsylvania)

Remember the Hoya on Tuesday 07/19? (MB)
This is it with the little flowers in full bloom.
They have a waxy look and feel to them.

Watch it bloom!

Year 2 Day 24

This one's for you, Becca! (MB)
Domus is open again with cute things. This watering can is one
of a group of animals, fish, birds. Maybe buying a group of these
and putting them in the garden would be more productive
(read also cheaper) than all of the plants I exterminate.

New construction on Neal (MB)
Cinderblock construction - this is in an area where there are many
refurbished Victorians. Can't imagine how the finished product will
fit in with the neighborhood. See the one up the street?

Year 2 Day 20

Had lunch with KB at favorite spot - Genova Deli (MB)
Passion Flowers in bloom. Pretty vine along Shattuck behind the Deli.

The 24 overpass at 52nd has some new art work on it. Really looks good!

Just a bit difficult to stand in the middle of 52nd to take a closeup.
It's the wavy blue line that runs along under the roof of the dispenser island.

Year 2 Day 19

Flower cluster on Hoya Vine (MB)
It flowers in a cluster every summer on the
same flower stalk. Flowers open, then dry,
drop off, and a new cluster forms.
I'll try to
show one with the flowers open.

Year 2 Day 18

Strange photography today (MB)
Needed a greeting card...I like the back as much as the front!

Does anyone know what kind of bird would
leave this calling card? The length is about 2"
Very strange texture. Think Play Doh!

Year 2 Day 16

Pretty red Maple at the Library (MB)
No way is there a theme to the photos this year!
I like the textures of the wall, tree, grass,
small shrub, and pavers play with each other
and with the straight lines of the building.

Year 2 Day 15

Memories from the past (MB)
The original juice in a box! One straw
holder has gone missing and it's
really more fun to see real ones!

(elephants, not juice boxes)

Year 2 Day 13

Kitty outtakes from the Vet's (MB)
Left: Maybe the vet won't notice that I'm here in the carrier.
Center: Do I have to be reminded about Kitty Kalisthenics?
Right: Why do they have to watch?

Year 2 Day 12

Sam's has friended her Vet and now she has a Paws Book page (MB)
This glamour shot was in last year's blog but we used

Out and about at 5:30am (MB)
Drove K&K to BART bound for SFO, moseyed around
Pleasanton (library, photos, coffee, fun). Don't usually see this
without cars parked in front. Took advantage of the opportunity!

Blue man is forever part of the scene.

Year 2 Day 5

Hope these toys were getting a ride to a new home. (MB)
They really only needed some "spiffing up" to find new life, but the truck made a right
turn on the street to the city transfer station. My heart sunk and I could have cried.
They were only outgrown; they had plenty more love to give. Reuse,Recycle,Repurpose.
