Year 2 Day 92
Cute Pumpkin Basket (MB)
Price tag is $11.99. Nicely made with the outer pumpkin-like
strips woven on the exterior of a regular basket. Sturdy and
very attractive. Would have liked to add to my home collection
but unfortunately have little storage space when it's out of
season. Boo Hoo! Would look nice with some Indian Corn,
Fall leaves, and wild grasses.
Starting July 1, 2010 a group of friends will be documenting one year with 1 photo a day.

From broken plate to mosaics (MB)
My friend broke a treasured plate, hated to throw it out
decided she would create a mosaic with it. From there she
started doing other things mosaic. Here's a flat stepping
stone from her garden-more garden art than for stepping
upon! She's applied broken plates to garden planters
old pitchers, trays. She's thrift store treasure hunter now!

Read about the 47 pound Rooster! Probably even
more exciting after finishing a bottle or two!

The latest in Sports goodies (MB)
These are bears that convert to pillows~on the left is Niner Bear out for a stroll, center photo is two Niner
Bears celebrating in the end zone - note Raider Bears on shelf to the right. The right photo with model
posing with two Raider Bears & a Niner. Nope, no Steeler Bears available!

Halloween costume finds in garage storage (MB)
We won't say how long the hat and apron have been stored, but Strawberry
Shortcake resurfaced anew last Halloween. You do understand that I'm not
admitting to being a parent who saved everything...but if you feel
the need for an outfit like this I probably have the patterns.

A look at front door area (MB)
Pic just a quick one. Needed to hose the dust off the garage floor VERY EARLY this am.
Normally wouldn't use the H2O route but there was serious dust that just wouldn't leave
by any other method. Didn't take pics in the event that the water police were descending upon me.
Steelers! YES! A Steeler Armada! Sunday am football watching at the RIB joint! Will probably
put my head down on the table and go to sleep!

ROOF DONE! (boxing the chimney will be completed soon) (MB)
Don gives the victory sign when the last nail goes in. We wanted to put in an attic fan to keep the air
conditioner usage to a minimum but it did seem counter-productive to save A/C energy by using an
electric attic fan. Not so in these times. The black vent-like "thing" on the roof is a solar attic fan.
Plastic is down, dirt is up, final touches will happen once some minor garage wall painting is done
after Sunday the 18th.

Year 2 Day 69
All summer long it's been relatively cool - until today! (MB)
Can't imagine how hot it was on the roof. Had coolers filled with iced water bottles and
bags of iced watermelon chunks for the guys. Even the dogs had ice in their water dishes
and dosed in the shade. First pic, yes, more debris! second pic, winding up for the day!
My neighbor has a solar-powered mobile gourmet ice cream truck. He brought ice cold
treats for the guys. (He's a retired contractor and is familiar with summer heat balanced
against getting work while the weather is good.) I appreciate his kindness for my guys!
I spent the days in the garage sorting "repositioning" items out the back door. Three piles were labeled
Reuse-(repacked, labeled, re-stored with like items), Refuse-(refuse to climb the ladder to re-store for
another ?? years of non-use), Re-purpose-(off to recycle or thrift shop-get me off the Hoarders list!)
Thursday was garbage pickup so items weren't going to hang around singing their stay-at-home blues
to me every time I passed by. KB came over after work and helped me vacuum out some of the dirt
so she could park in the garage for the night. We had leftovers spaghetti to eat, I owe her a scrumptious
dinner for being my faithful friend-in-dirt.

Happy Labor Day (MB)
And labor they did...with lots of debris...and then daylight in the garage. Lessons learned:
1.The plastic prepping worked for the most part. (see #4)
2.You'll find the rafter cobwebs to clean away because the dust will cling and reveal them.
3. Clean up after removal but don't take down the plastic. There will be additional debris
with the sawing & hammering connected to the re-roofing process.
4. DO NOT let anyone use a leaf blower to do a "clean-up" job best done by a shop vacuum.
5. WHINE, SCREAM, STOMP YOUR FEET, but INSIST on #4.

Magic Milk Straws (MB)
Someone had a cute idea, wonder how well it works.
Straws are filled with Strawberry, Chocolate, or Vanilla
flavor "beads." Put the straw into plain milk, suck on
the straw, milk flavors itself on it's way to your mouth.
Think: drinking your tea with a sugar cube between
your front teeth. Read about them: < http://www.magicstraws.com/ >

Miscellaneous Photos (MB)
Shooting what strikes your fancy...An accidental New York Yankees' fan,
and a Rafter treasure. Squint and you'll see the resemblance to a turtle.
A child's huggy turtle, soft and squishy. Sorry the color isn't PC to the turtle
world; the fabrics were leftovers and the sewing not toooooo bad.

Garage Prepped for Roof removal (MB)
So, when the old roof was put on, there was no 1st layer of plywood put down. The old roof
is coming down & it means that all of the junk will fall into the garage. YUK! To keep the
debris field manageable, 1 ml plastic was stapled above the shelving/storage areas like roller blinds.
The plastic will be unrolled before the removal begins, shielding everything stored on shelving.
It is long enough to cover most of the shelving. It's the floor plastic that I use when painting walls.
There are items down on floor but old sheets & towels will protect them. Afterward, cleanup should
be a lot easier than if everything is left uncovered. Hopefully this system will work! This roof has a
50 year lifetime. It better outlast me, I'm too old to do this monkey climbing on the shelves again.
Had to wedge my body between the overhead rails of the garage door rails and the shelves to do
the stapling. LTSFTS: Life's Too Sort For This S***!
