An ambitious project- a request for 2,500 handmade scarves by December 15th.
They're to be given away as gifts to the Christmas Day guests at St. Anthony's Dining Room.

Once a year in November the light is turned on and the rotation is stopped for 15 minutes.
Many photographers show up to capture the rays of light around the lighthouse.
For a good display of rays, there needs to be a layer of fog.
It was actually more fun to see all of the camera gear that was paraded out.
It's a wonder the weight of the gear didn't sink us into the Pacific!

Veterans' Day 2010 (MB)
There is a rock south of I-80 in the middle of a cornfield in Greenfield, Iowa named Freedom Rock.
Artist Bubba Sorensen re-paints every year as a way to say "Thank You" to America's Veterans.

A hawk came to visit (MB)
He was kind enough to show his front and back so there's a decent look at his markings.
Best guess from looking at my bird book is that it's a Cooper's Hawk. Didn't have time for
tripod so pix aren't very sharp. No small birds or rodents were harmed during this visit.
