Yuk! An interesting Friday, to say the least (MB)
Came across what I thought was our Mrs. Snake...but of obvious recent demise.
Wasn't the way I have dispatched the critters in times past. This one appeared
to have been pecked. Such as, with a beak. Spinal column bare of flesh in places.
Not attractive. After left photo taken I put camera in house; when I turned around
Mrs. Blue Jay was checking out the take-out offerings. Hurried into house to get
to a closer window to watch the action...a morsel was pecked away and flown into
the tree above to feed to a Jay family member. Then she came back and tried to drag
the snake away with something string-like that the snake wasn't using any more.
Don't want to go further into that visual except to say that someone has been
rearranging the snake on the deck all afternoon. I left it there so it would feed the
Jay family. The arrow points to the string. Sorry for the small pictures. Maybe the
raccoons will be happy with leftovers. Not sure I'm going to be have an appetite for dinner.
